The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, “merciful, joyous and poor, doing works of neighborly love,” are vowed women religious based in Frankfort, Illinois on the campus of St. Francis Woods. We work in health care, education, parish ministry, diocesan ministry, retreat ministry, bodywork, and ministry among the poor in Illinois, Indiana, California, and Brazil. As Franciscans seeking faithfulness to God's continuous creative action in our lives, we are impassioned by the Gospel and the spirituality of Saints Francis and Clare. Journeying in the footprints of Jesus through simple, Gospel living, we discern God's dream for us personally and communally; gather in fraternitas (community) with Jesus as our brother; seek to be a welcoming and joyful presence; place our incompleteness in God's transforming heart; embrace diversity in our life and ministries; and further the new reign of God.
