We are a monastic community consecrated to contemplation, called to give our lives to God through a hidden life of love according to the Rule of St. Benedict and the customs of our Order. Our monastic rhythm of life includes daily Eucharist, Liturgy of the Hours, manual work, and Lectio Divina. Our vows of obedience, stability, and conversion draw us to ever deeper humility, for love of Christ, one another, and all creation. As Trappist Cistercian nuns, the Holy Spirit invites us to simplicity, solitude, and sacrifice, as well as to loving-kindness, freedom, and joy! Most essentially, we get to participate in Christ's prayer for the fruitfulness of the Church and world. Though richly diverse in age, background, and personality, as sisters we have a common desire: to be poor with the poor Christ—who became poor because he so wanted to be with us! Located on a high bluff-top in the Upper Mississippi River Valley of northeastern Iowa, surrounded by hundreds of acres of rolling fields and woodlands, we cherish our monastic land as both a holy refuge and a profound responsibility, given to be shared. We welcome vocational inquiries from women ages 18-40.
