The Congregation of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters was founded in 1885 in Tutzing Germany as missionaries to Africa. The community has since expanded to over 1300 sisters in five Continents and serving in over eighteen countries. We have forty sisters serving in three locations in the USA: Nebraska and Iowa, with ministries including: pastoral care, spiritual direction, youth ministry, social work, education, nursing, etc. Our international ministries include education, health care, leprosarium, orphanages, domestic training centers for women, work with indigenous peoples, HIV-Aids outreach, and spiritual and pastoral care. We wear the monastic habit as a sign of our commitment to Christ, His Church, and our Congregation. With our monastic vows of Obedience, Stability, and Conversion of Life, we bind ourselves to Christ as well as to one another in the community. The Eucharist, Liturgy of the Hours, and Scripture meditation form the core of our common prayer life.
