We are inviting You to join us in becoming a Sister of St. Joseph and to commit your life to the radical message of the gospel “that all may be one” (John 17:21). In the words of Gustavo Gutierrez, a Peruvian Liberation theologian, “Without friendship, an option for the poor can easily become a commitment to an abstraction to a social class, a race, a culture, an idea.” Therefore, we stand with our neighbor as friend and ally, especially those on the margins of our society, and we strive to live as witnesses to the healing and reconciling love of Jesus. We define our lives through prayer, community, and service with compassion, creativity, and courage. We are called to do “any work a woman is capable of” in a struggling and hope-filled world. For more information, please contact us: vocations@ssjrochester.org. In addition, we invite volunteers to join us for an 11-month time of service through the Sisters of St. Joseph Volunteer Corps. Volunteers live in an intentional community, receive a stipend, health insurance, and an AmeriCorps Education Award. The program begins in the beginning of September and runs through July. Call: 585-733-4422 or email: volunteercorps@ssjrochester.org for more information. View our video and podcast on NPR’s “All things Considered” with a young woman discerning religious life.
