Prayer, work, community, stability, balance. Sound good to you? They can be yours as a Benedictine monk. St. Bede Abbey in Peru, IL is home to 8 monks, both priests and brothers. The community was founded in 1890. The monks serve the Church universal and local in a variety of ways: a college prep, co-ed, day and boarding high school; some limited parish and hospital ministry, and hospitality. Work, both intellectual and manual, is tailored to the talents, abilities and interests of each monk that God may be glorified in all things. Men, ages 21-45, interested in a stable, community life of prayer and work, are invited to inquire and visit to experience first-hand what monastic life is all about. We look forward to hearing from you!
